Linking the Runoff Model

Internal Linking

As with the simulator, there are two kinds of links between sub basins in RiverSim. The instantaneous transfer link (the L button on the palette) moves water from the outflow slot of the upstream basin to the inflow slot of the downstream basin. The basin then lags the flow based on Troute. The routing link (the R button on the palette) routes the water from the outflow slot of the upstream basin to the inflow slot of the downstream basin.

Linking to the Simulator

The output of the runoff model may be directly linked into a simulation model. Thus, once the runoff model is calibrated, it is possible simply to enter the precipitation and snow level, run the model and then immediately run the reservoir system model with the basin results as input.

Choosing “Link to Simulator” in the menu above will pop up the dialog below (with names appropriate to your simulation model, of course):

Choosing “Dismiss” at this point would establish a link from the outflow of basin “Black River” to the inflow of the reservoir “HorseMesa”.
