All nodes in a model are composed of slots. It is the job of the top
level node to manage those slots and insure that they interact as needed
to perform the node's part in the simulation. The values of the data managed
by the slot may be changed as needed. Once they are changed, the new data
values are effective immediatley. It is not the case that you must save a
data file and then restart (although it is strongly
recommended that you save your model to a file after making changes
and before attempting to run).
Clicking the right mouse button within the box will pop up a menu which
allows access to dialogs that can be used to set parameter values. This
graphic explains the various parts of the slot display:
- Title: The name assigned to the slot. This name will be used on
reports and to reference state variables for calculators. For table nodes,
this name is assigned by the modeler and may be changed as desired.
- Type: The slot's type is assigned at creation and may not be changed.
- Units: This gives the units of measure for the slot. This is for
display and reporting purposes. The units of measure may be changed by
clicking the right mouse button on the slot display and choosing Units from
the resulting menu.
- Scale: This is a scale multiplier for the value of the slot. Used for
display and reporting purposes. May be changed as with units.
- User Defined Series: This check box indicates whether the slot uses
an input time series. (The series may be loaded regardless of whether it is
actually used in the simulation.) For an Inflow slot, such a series would
represent virgin flow. For an Outflow shot, it would represent demand. This
series may be viewed or changed via the menu popped up using the right
mouse button. See policy.
- Output Series: This check box indicates whether the slot is to accumulate
a time series of the values it assumes during the course of the simulation. The
series may be viewed either via a report or via the
menu popped up using the right mouse button.
- Constraints: If this icon is turned red, it indicates that the slot
has constraints. Constraints may be
set or changed via the menu popped up using the right mouse button.
- Rules: When this icon is turned red, it indicates that the slot has
one or more rule calculators attached.
Calculators may be set or changed via the menu popped up using the right mouse
button.
- Facets: When this icon is turned red, it indicates that the slot has
one or more facets attached. Facets may be
added, deleted or have their parameters set via the menu popped up using the
right mouse button.
